Each year, the staff of Sleep Dentistry of Portland gives back to our community through a free dental care event called Dentistry From the Heart.
Dentistry From the Heart is a unique movement joined by practices across the country. At these events, dentists and their staff offer free dental care to people who are not able to afford vital services.
The work goes far beyond exams — many patients suffer from toothache or other painful conditions they've endured without relief.
On February 10, 2013 — the Friday before Valentine's Day -- Sleep Dentistry of Portland offered a gesture of caring and goodwill by giving back to the community.
Our doctors Kasch, Maiden, Haymore, and Combe joined other staff members and outside volunteers like dentists Gabriela Aranda and Curtis Bedont. They started providing treatment at 7:30 in the morning.
By five o'clock that night, 115 low-income patients were seen on a first-come, first-served basis. More than $146,000 in free dental care was given away to those in need who may not have been able to receive treatment otherwise.
Sleep Dentistry of Portland has made this an annual outpouring, and the event returns on February 7, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be the seventh year that we have held our Dentistry From the Heart free dental care day.
Our volunteers are offering free dental services to those in need by offering one filling, cleaning, or extraction per person. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
To date, Sleep Dentistry of Portland has helped 657 people and given away more than $202,000 in free dental care through Dentistry From the Heart.
